YMCA of Greater San Antonio
The YMCA of Greater San Antonio serves over 38,000 persons annually through its 11 branches throughout the greater San Antonio region. The YMCA's mission is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
Reason for PowerPlan Implementation
PowerPlan was implemented to assist branch managers in building their budgets from the ground up. We needed a cost-effective application that not only stored budget numbers, but helped us build the numbers from various operational assumptions and drivers. Ease of use and minimal learning-curve was also an important factor in our decision to implement PowerPlan.
Previous Operations
Prior to PowerPlan, the "Y" used the Budget Builder module of Y-Vision, an accounting application designed by the YMCA of the USA. When we changed accounting software, a cost-effective solution to budgeting was found in PowerPlan.
Post PowerPlan Benefits
Easy data consolidation and entity mode reporting has made PowerPlan a powerful analytical tool for our operations. Budgeting for payroll has been more accurate than in the past and the ability to see historical data by fiscal period has assisted us in spreading our budget to the proper months.
Software Access and Organization Penetration
PowerPlan is accessed from desktops throughout the organization. Branch locations obtain access through Citrix Server. Of the 600 employees at the YMCA of Greater San Antonio, approximately 60 staff use PowerPlan for budgeting and reporting at the program, department, branch and total association levels.
